I thought you were talking about the WF-1000XM3, which ARE earbuds (but I had to look up the difference, WF-1000 or WH-1000). Thanks Sony for naming things almost the same.
I recommend you also check out the Sony LinkBuds S. Cheaper than the 1000XM3 and usually a better fit for people as they are smaller and lighter while still offering ANC.
Hopefully they split it by chip (e.g. TSMC gets the 8 gen 3 and lower tier stuff is on Samsung) and not start making the same chip on different processes. I really don’t want another dumb thing to have to worry about when choosing my next phone.
Who even asked for this? Give us proper features like allowing placing calls from third party apps.
I’m not very familiar with NextCloud but you can use something like duckDns to direct traffic to your ip for free. Still an actual domain is a bit nicer if you want to share the URL.
Man, scrapyard wars is not a set of words I’ve heard mentioned in a while. I have such fondness for old LTT stuff but stopped watching years ago as they started growing and pushing out more and more videos. I guess that’s why scrapyard wars also got rushed / dropped by the end. Doing it right just takes more time so it isn’t profitable in their business model. What a useless channel this has become.
Valve is still substantially larger per capita almost by a factor of 10. (by your numbers)
7.7 bil / 1100 = 7 million per employee
100 mil / 100 = 1 million per employee
Still, LTT is a sizeable company now both in the scope of their reach (millions watch them every day) and in the amount of people they employ.
I’m a bit of a noob so I ended up going with Ubuntu after trying a few other distros. I’m sure I could have fixed the issues I was having but it was easier to troubleshoot and find solutions online due to the larger install base.
Also more things were just working out of the box
You’re right, there is just not that much to be said about the 15th iPhone release we have seen year after year. And he has been branching out with the car videos and checking out other tech every now and then.
I wouldn’t even mind the different subject, as you said phones are just not as interesting as they used to be. But these videos are very surface level, basically just watch him read the product page for a cool expensive thing.
Is there a specific extension you recommend for Firefox? (for the AI summaries)
I can’t stand him either anymore. The production quality is high but the content feels very low effort and subjective. I especially cannot stand the zoom in thing as if he’s saying something impactful or profound. What’s worse is many of the similar channels are adopting it.
I guess that’s the life cycle of a YouTube channel: Quirky and interesting -> gain traction -> adapt content for wider audiences to maintain growth -> become bland and lose the thing that was interesting to begin with
Weirdly, I’m more or less okay with this. Hope someone gets my ballin’ Teriyaki sauce recipe
Kidding aside usually this type of thing bothers me, for example I’m actively trying to find alternatives to Google services. But I feel like I’m not giving up that much information here.
I just want a notes app that is intuitive and pleasant to use, and I really like notion’s UI
Actually you are right, this is really annoying. Its also quite a “heavy” app, takes quite a while to start up, and I have to re-login constantly.
What’s wrong with notion?
It sounds like it could easily run these. You could probably get away with a newer raspberry pi for them so the nuc should have no issues.
For reference the heaviest thing for me has been Home assistant os, which needs dedicated ram and cores for it’s VM. I’ve had no issues with running almost a dozen services on a 4790k based system along HA including: Immich, plex, radarr/sonarr/prowlarr/etc, usually a dedicated game server for Valheim or Minecraft or something, and some other lighter services.
I think ram (16gb) is going to be the limiting factor in my case but I haven’t hit that limit yet
I wouldn’t even necessarily mind paying a subscription but having a monthly search limit just gives me anxiety.
Also using Immich, can recommend it.
There are still some rough areas though. For example its not possible to further share/download photos sent to you in a shared album. And the ios app is a bit janky when swiping through photos. No slideshow mode either.
Overall very usable though and getting updated constantly.
Check out usenet. It takes a bit of money and research but its much more reliable than torrents seem to be. You will need an indexer and a provider. Good luck.
Reading about the suicide thing: I might try kagi again this year. This is the exact type of software I want. It should only perform its intended function (returning relevant results to any query) and not try to influence me into following someone else’s moralisations.
