Hey. Just for fun, I wanna make a Tumblr blog where I introduce every POSIX utility listed in IEEE 1003.1 XCU. I know about the reputation of Tumblr and I think it is a neat thing to do, some kid may stumble upon the blog and know what POSIX is.

So I want every utility to have a Moe mascot, but I am

1- Not an artist; 2- Lack the funds to hire an artist;

so I was wondering, is there a way I can generate random moe girls? It’s just for ‘lark’ it does not need to be super detailed.

(Keep in mind that I don’t have any money or the access to international banking necessary to register on DALL-E or any paid service).

Thanks.

Stable diffusion can be installed and run locally. On top of the regular model you can apply models specifically trained for anime girl generation.

A 1060 probably can’t unless it’s the 6gb vram model. my card has 8gb vram and it crashed sometimes when I tried generating 10+ images at a time.

You’d have to try it on your 1060.

Cheap option: learn how to draw. It’s not as hard as it sounds, and I’m sure you’ll make great things! Alternatively you can get into 3D modeling

Cheap and fast: If you are willing to deal with the criticism of using AI, you can use stable diffusion to generate your anime girl. The easiest way is to use Automatic101’s stable diffusion UI, and pick a few interesting models from sites like CivitAI. It’s open source too, but require setting up and not potato hardware

Cheaper and fast: you can use AI horde Stable Diffusion. It’s a service to generate pics run by volunteers, (including me sometimes), no login required (although recommended for higher queue priority). It’s fully open source still, and only need a web browser

There’s other AI services too, but most would make sell your soul to their corporate overlord. I won’t judge you for using those, but as a fellow Linux user, I’d figure you’d prefer the good old foss first

Edit: link to AI Horde diffusion: https://aqualxx.github.io/stable-ui/

Also, this post is not really linux related still.

    • Thanks — I first have to see if Stable Diffusion can run on my 1060.

I have a classical approach that occurred to me. Why not find images, with no copyright, like fan art, from DeviantArt or some dingy gooner places like that, and use them instead? Of course I will credit the creator under the photo. Not sure how scummy this is.

btw I could not find a sub about POSIX and OsDev. This Linux sub is the closest. Maybe I should make this sub (what are subs called here?)

      Thanks.

I am just starting this journey as well. (Learning about training)

There are a billion videos on fine tuning an existing model I’m pretty sure that’s what you need to do in the end. If you can’t find a model that has exactly what you’re looking for and you can find a decent number of samples you can take one of the other anime models and fine tune it with your samples. I watched a guy take an anime model and train it with The GitHub mascot.

The cool thing is they were using Google collab. They’re able to get the train done for like $8 a month, and the skill required was extremely low. I think the hardest part is the training data needs to all the in 512x512.

I think defining what “moe” means might be helpful, I’ve blocked all their communities from my feed because it mostly seems like an excuse to post scantily clad anime women with various themes
