I actually disable shader compilation in the settings, i dont notice a difference.

Maybe consider Spiral linux, it’s just Debian with better defaults and backport repo probably without the bloat that comes with “Gaming” distros.

Have you considered a new gen? an 8th gen would offer better efficiency and performance and more feature like quick sync hardware decoding for most encoders out there. Srill, i’m impressed by the consumption difference.

It is the first thing I disable after a new Steam installation, I have been dpoig that for years and i don’t see much difference, ay least in the titles i play and the hardware I have (R5 5600X now 7600X with RX6800 and 16 now 32GB RAM)
