Couldn’t you write in the text editor then copy/paste into terminal without saving? (Who needs documentation anyway)

Not as easy on a laptop, like this is. Usually a pain in the ass to replace laptop chicklet keyboard keys, if you can even find a replacement without a windows icon
LMAO, I thought that was a windows app store icon.

That actually looks promising. Can’t tell if I’ll have to faf about with tvheadend, or if they’ve baked it in yet, but it sounds like a good project for this weekend
Genuine question:
What’s the alternative for recording live tv with hdhomerun or hauppage atsc cards with a tv guide?

81·3 months agoHey, I know this is totally not the question, but if you’re planning to actually use this device for school work, make sure you have a way to boot into Windows. Some science classes use software that doesn’t work well outside of windows. Yes you can probably get it up and running with a little work, but it’s a pita when the software was originally written for Windows XP.
Back when Wi-Fi N was new, I was able to use a Wi-Fi router flashed with ddwrt to accomplish something similar.
I was able to put the wap in receiver mode, so it acted like a Wi-Fi dongle. When connected to the Wi-Fi network it would act as a switch on the built in ports. I can’t remember for certain, but I think everything was still on the same subnet.
It’s very rare to have a real tree branch merge back into the trunk.
Not rare, but uncommon. Not sure if there’s a Lemmy equivalent but r/treessuckingonthings shows trunks absorbing all sorts of things including branches
Just to save the heartache, acetone vapor does not work with pla.

1·5 months agoCouple years ago I wouldn’t have argued, but with graphics cards ballooning to 3+ slots, you have to be more careful about which slots on the motherboard have full enough lanes to support your cards. And you have to make sure your motherboard has the full x16 slot in the highest position which is less common on boards with m.2. otherwise there isn’t room for expansion cards

1·5 months agoJonsbo makes some decent compact nas cases with plenty of space for drives. Look at their N series N3/N4 etc.
matx would be more upgradable than itx, but nobody is making either of them with 10gb Ethernet. So I personally would be looking at full ATX boards so I could add in a nic.

1·5 months agoIt’s not impossible, but first Gen Ryzen was surprisingly good after AMD shit the bed for a few years. Most major manufacturers weren’t willing to take a chance, though you can find some 2nd Gen available on the used market.
If it were me, I’d look for a motherboard/CPU combo and assemble it into your case of choice. That way you aren’t stuck with the weird form-factors of pre-built office computers.

Their resale value dropped to basically nil back when Google announced this 6-8 months ago.
Not sure it’s any consolation, but you wouldn’t have made much unless you sold it a year ago.
