With phone link I have tested the beta version and you can use your phone camera wirelessly after initial setup. At least I was able to do this using a Redmi Note 9s without any obvious issues, apart from the privacy concerns noted elsewhere.

The only unique (I think?) thing about phone link is that it enables you to use your Android phone camera as a webcam, which can be handy if you don’t have a quality webcam. I think its only in the beta version though.
Hi Antik, as I mentioned elsewhere in the comments, I was very happy to hear that you decided ‘unremove’ our little community. I appreciate you going to the effort of revisiting the earlier decision and being transparent about the process, and I’m sure that goes for the vast majority of the people here (though obviously not all 🤨).
While individual users were probably more impacted by that decision than we were as a instance (because they couldn’t access this community from lemmy.world), I can tell you that our admin team fully understood the situation you were in and there are no hard feelings from our side.
I don’t know whether there is a wider appreciation of the fact that managing a lemmy instance is quite labor intensive and technically challenging for the system admins, who are all volunteering their time and expertise. And there’s still lots of bugs and problems to identify and deal with.
Yes, so people in our community are aware of the ‘unremoval’, not to hate on lemmy.world. It’s a move in the right direction and personally I’m glad they took this step. Everyone is so tribal nowadays, just chill.
I don’t like to see fellow pirates fighting each other - save it for the corporate overlords! To clarify this issue, you absolutely can Google search the site the OP mentioned via Google and download links etc. Think of that site kind of like the Russian Facebook/Instagram/YouTube all rolled into one. They do have an app they try to get you to download, and they do want you sign up for an account, but the content is also indexed by Google so you can find stuff without the app and without logging in, using the method described by the OP.
Can we all relax now?
You are entitled to your views, but please don’t turn this post into a political discussion. If you want to talk about your political opinions, there are plenty of communities for that topic. !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com is not one of those communities. Thanks and have a good day.
Yeah, it was a nice surprise for sure. I’m glad to have the lemmy.world crowd back, plenty of booty for all.
Because hardly any popular 2fa authenticator apps have implemented sha256 yet. No point putting the chicken before the egg.
What is ridiculous is posting a link to a 4chan post by a right wing extremist “boogaloo boy” that is 90% comprised of links to anti-semitic, racist, nazi propaganda and 10% survival-related links, then saying “just ignore the nazi stuff, don’t judge me” when someone points this out.
That link is FULL of Nazi crap. Don’t post it here again, or you’ll get a ban.
Nice! https://fmoviesz.to/home is the new landing page for anyone who’s interested.
I think this post probably belongs in !crazyideas@lemmy.world
Glad we could provide some mutual aid buddy.
We keep banning them but they keep creating new bot accounts on discuss.tchncs.de … it’s a problem for sure
I think there’s room for an occasional meme.
Shiver me timbers, ye be wanting the megathread…
Looks like the nos have won it, as per the votes on this comment. 🏴☠️
There’s a decent write up on how Android ‘dropper’ malware functions here. TLDR - while the APK may be clean, it tries to trick you into installing a malware infected APK later in the install process or during a fake update.
