As someone also measured as gifted and put in gifted classes, there was an interesting discussion that I had with one of the teachers about how the views for approaching gifted education was changing.

For a lot of schools, the “gifted” students are gifts; you don’t have to spend time on their education and they may end up helping the classes they are in. So, it is ok to treat them like normal kids and they won’t become a problem.

However, studies have shown that to be really bad for the “gifted” students. You get a lot of underperforming students who don’t engage with the material as it is mentally underwhelming. Soft skills that they were supposed to learn were never developed because they never had to. You even had issues with developing social skills as the distance in standard deviations between gifted and normal children are the same as between a normal kid and a “special education” kid.

The findings were showing you had to treat the “gifted” students with the same care as those in “special education” as the common teaching techniques don’t work, issues are much more varied between children, and being able to lean on talent in some cases leads to skills not being learned because they never needed to be.

Sounds like you were kept with the normal kids.

Bring able to do those sorts of problems isn’t important.

Having the logic solving ability to do those sorts of problems is.

I wouldn’t ditch Windows entirely, but I could see the business case of making sure your game can run on SteamOS.

The only hard one would be Google Maps. Wallet is just NFC and the screen. YouTube Music is just storage and Bluetooth.

Even then, I would expect Maps to operate with a cached map.

Nah. Software engineers aren’t real engineers because they aren’t liable for their poor design decisions.

It is less that people use SMS and more that people just don’t use WhatsApp. I have a mix of group chats, including some with SMS and Facebook Chat. However, no one uses Whatsapp.

It is the reason why playwrights would never distribute full scripts. You would only get your lines and the line before your line. You also wouldn’t get a lot of time to study your lines. It was common for someone off stage with the only full script to help actors remember their lines.

I’ve been to some of those. They really suck. Worse than meetings.

Unlimited* plans are always sold on the idea that a sizeable part of the user base aren’t going to use an actual unlimited amount of the resource.

Unless there is a contract regarding a fee over a period of time, there isn’t that much that users can do to compel a service to offer a service they no longer want to offer.

Because they are trying to tap into a primal fear to get people to do what they want them to do.
