Spanish guy, who likes open source software and has just discovered the fediverse (as of 28th of April, 2022). I like video games, and indie and retro music. I’m a student. I’m officially diagnosed with ADHD and ASD since January, 2023.

America is a continent and Americans are people from that continent (Canadians, Usonians, Mexicans, Cubans, Argentinians, Brazilians…)

  • Lemmy.world isn’t better than those three instances.

I didn’t mention lemmy.world at all, neither I said I was on that instance (I’m not, by the way), neither I said it was or wasn’t better than those three instances.

Tankies don’t scare or bother me.

Yet you were censored on a washed out tankie instance.

everyone is equally partaking in censorship, no one can hold arguments anymore, every one is allergic to having their opinion challenged.

Only tankies and people who don’t think that America is a continent. Otherwise, I didn’t have any issues with anyone.

  • I’m sure more toxicity will come as the user base continues to grow but, for now, this place is pretty fuckin’ cool and I appreciate you all.

One thing I learnt about toxicity during the year and few months I’m on the fediverse is that admins are more proactive to the server’s rules. There are servers with fewer rules or with poor admins/moderators, but those that are more serious, you won’t feel like you’re defenceless.

Another good thing is that you can create your own server with your own rules and a better management than the place where you were on.

So, yes, toxicity will come eventually, but with a good set of rules and decent admins/moderators to make them come into effect, this place will be wonderful.

  • I started using Linux in 2008, and full time in 2011. I remember I could play natively to a bunch of games, like Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Neverball, Torcs, Dark Oberon, and others. I enjoyed those games, and I still enjoy some of them today. I think it was in 2013 when Steam announced it was coming to Linux, and native ports came too, like Braid and Dynamite Jack. Now, despite my hardware limitations, I can enjoy GTA IV, Stellaris, Prison Architect, Dwarf Fortress, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe…

Things changed for the better, and thanks to Steam Deck, it’ll keep changing.
