It does I think, not as much as it used to but every now and then I find good articles on there I wouldn’t have found elsewhere. For me, it’s worth a quick glance.

For tech I have Ars, Phoronix, TomsHardware, Slashdot. I feel that covers a lot and keeps me up to date.
For personal - I have never used whatsapp and never will. All my friends either use Signal or SMS. North America here.
For work - I am forced to use whatsapp and hate it, but would not be able to do my job without it, so I’m stuck.
Another vote for the proton services. Been with them for years and very happy.
Lol no they’re not. It’s a small company and I know everyone. I have to use WhatsApp to communicate with various 3rd party vendors in Europe because that’s the standard there. That’s all.
While I agree with all of that…. One of the biggest issues is employment. For instance through my job I’m forced to use both google and meta services, and I can’t “opt out” or “just don’t install it”. It’s a condition of employment. So of course you can say “just quit your job” but that’s not really viable is it? Over phone apps? And carrying two phones I will never do…… so……
Pretty much. Pop is my go-to recommendation for pretty much anyone these days. It’s so well polished and just easy.
Oof, the most recent news posting is “entering alpha phase” which is a big no thanks for me. In addition, the main descriptive sentence says “It aims to be clean and usable while addressing the various shortcomings of an average Linux distribution.” But then doesn’t explain that. What does it consider to be shortcomings of an average distro?
yeah I think it means … ALL OF IT.
also double sucks because a lot of people have no choice but to use zoom. jobs require it.
