Considering I’ve had far fewer problems and frustrations with Mint so far than I had with Windows, this bodes well. I’ll save your comment and plan on giving OpenSUSE a try!
Ah, that makes sense. Honestly, I haven’t gotten around to trying any games yet (which is what this thread is about, so I’ll just excuse myself :P)
What do those distros have that Mint doesn’t have? I’m not being rude, it’s just that I recently switched from Windows to Linux Mint on my laptop, and I can’t imagine what features I’m missing. It’s easy to use and does everything I need it to do so far. I haven’t experienced any weird bugs yet, and compared to Windows 10 it’s a much less frustrating experience overall.

So if I get a Firestick, I can connect it to a machine running Linux and sideload apps like that? (Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’ve never used a Firestick but I’ve been contemplating ways to mirror content from a Linux PC to my smart TV)

1·11 months agoYeah I’m aware of that name’s origins. People use “branch” to describe Waterfox and Mull as well. If you ask about “Fennec branch” in current year, it’s what I’ve linked. Nearly anyone who talks about it is referring to that. Just a heads up.
In 2023, everyone I know refers to the version I linked as the Fennec branch. I guess I assumed you were too.
I had to tinker with the settings. Most of the default instances didn’t work for me, so I had to find the ones that did and add them.
Fortunately, there is a list of suggested public instances and a feature that lets you automatically ping them so you can see which ones work and add them to your “favorite instances.”
It’s a little bit confusing because to add your favorites, you have to temporarily enable the bypass, even if you don’t want it to auto redirect all the time, so you can add and remove your favorite instances.
And some of them have been gutted due to restrictions placed by web sites, the most notorious examples of which are libreddit and teddit.
Libredirect is a Firefox addon that can redirect links to more privacy friendly services. For example, clicking someone’s YouTube link will redirect you to Piped or Invidious instead.
