I mean, I don’t understand the point of an encryption that people can decrypt without it being intended. Just seems like theatre to me.
But yeah, obviously the intended parties have to be able to decrypt it. I messed up in my wording.

This is a false equivalence. Encryption only works if nobody can decrypt it. LLMs work even if you censor illegal content from their output.
There is already an issue here : https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3069
Why do believe they are opposed to having this feature?
Here are some examples on exploding-heads.com and rammy.site though I kinda doubt you don’t know about them. Their members frequently harass trans and queer communities as well.

I’m gonna be asking hard questions, I think, sorry about that. I hope you consider it tough love considering our past interactions.
How are you doing? I know there was a lot of pressure when things blew up and it seems to be calming down a bit now.
How is Lemmy doing financially?
Considering past releases and their associated breaking bugs (including 0.18.3), what measures are you taking to help prevent that?
Can we consider the possibility of downgrades being supported?
Why are bugs affecting moderation not release blockers? Does anything block releases?
Are there plans to give instance administrators a voice in shaping the future of Lemmy’s development?
Yeah, that’d be the only way to do this but it also means the project can change the license at any time. As an outside developer, I would probably not want to rely on a project where it can go fully closed source potentially at any time.
It’s also worth noting but if you have a non-commercial license, you will also be incompatible with any GPL license.
I think the biggest con with this kind of license is that it also means neither you nor the collaborators can try to make a living out of it. Such a type of license forces entirely hobby work.
The cost of maintainership of the project and the fact that it may exclude people that don’t have the privilege of being able to contribute in their free time are both things that concern me quite a bit when you remove all commercial usage.
Cool to see you here (seen your name before)!
Cool project!
Lemur is already the name of a Lemmy app that died :/
Definitely gonna try the shit out of sync once that’s released!
(Oh hey, nice seeing you here!)
I’ve used Logseq in the past though I’ve not been using much recently. It’s a really cool application.
From what I’ve heard - it’s similar to React! Hopefully you like it
When you say you like Javascript, do you like web frontend dev? If so, you could try contributing to lemmy UI - could be pretty rewarding to see your work being deployed on the instance you use!
This is just enlightened centrism. No. Nobody needs to defend the harms done by technology.
We can accept the harm if the good is worth it - we have no need to defend it.
LLMs can work without the harm.
It makes sense to make technology better by reducing the harm they cause when it is possible to do so.
