Nice, good to hear.

Does it still have that weird problem where you’re not allowed to modify surfaces because of the way you created them? Last time I tried using it, I couldn’t create a mirror copy of a shape and then edit the mirror. I could only edit the source, which then applied the changes to all the parts.

If this occurs, work with your Linux vendor to get an update.”
Excuse me, those are the opposite of each other.

Why people still recommend it when there is Fedora and Opensuse with KDE and Gnome?English3·1 year agoFor sure, which is why I only use Mint anyway. I need my hand held. But Linus was doing power-user things without power-user reading. You can’t really claim the car is no good when you opened the hood and started swapping hoses without checking to see what goes where.

Liz@midwest.socialto Linux@lemmy.ml•People doing the 30 days linux Challenge are having several problems because of Mint's old packages and technology. Why people still recommend it when there is Fedora and Opensuse with KDE and Gnome?English5·1 year agoI use KdenLive on Mint whenever I need to edit a video. I’ve never bothered to look for the other two because I use Darktable and GIMP for my photo editing, but I can check to see if they’re available if you want me to.
Flatpak “containerizes” the program, which makes it more secure and less able to accidentally mess up other programs. Fuck if I know how it works.
Also you don’t have to type in your password every time you want to update the program, so that’s nice.

It’s one of those situations where corporations get to pull similar bullshit, so they think actual humans get to use the same tricks, too.
I make sure to give my guess and also append as many logs and exact information as possible, right down to every step I took that produced the problem.
So far my success rate with the forums is 0%. But hey, people at least tried to be helpful!

Anyway, for those who are fed up with the terrible results, use Ecosia. I’ve basically never needed to use anything else and the advertising money goes towards planting trees responsibly to rebuild ecosystems.
Liz@midwest.socialto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux Mint 22 Will Include Preinstalled App for MatrixEnglish12·1 year agoMint is aimed at normies. The fewer barriers to entry, the better. If you give users the option for a “clean” install there will be people who select it, not knowing what they’re doing, and then end up with a borderline non-functional computer as far as they’re concerned. To put it another way, they expect it to have stuff pre-installed. Finally, what counts as essentials and what counts as bloat? Text editor? Media player? Photo viewer? Internet browser?
That being said, I understand why you might not like getting extra programs you didn’t ask for. Luckily, they’re very easy to uninstall and forget about.
I’m pro gun and that’s a laughably stupid idea for about a million reasons.

Also, I have see-through Dvorak stickers added so it’s pretty clear that something is up with my keyboard just by looking at it. It also helps with finding those random symbol characters you use twice a year.
Liz@midwest.socialto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux users with uncommon or unusual setups: tell us about itEnglish3·1 year agoIt really is worth the switch.
As a non-technical user: fucking love it.
You can take my Cinnamon GUI from my cold dead hands.
I didn’t know that! From the other comment, sounds like it’s basically fixed.
