I like it. It’s nostalgic, in a 90s sort of way 😂

You don’t control Plex’s remote authentication servers at all, either, how is this hard to comprehend?
Ah, but I control if the client application is installed or not. And technically Netflix did allow downloading content for offline viewing - as long as you had an account (don’t know if they still do).
Now both the content and the application are on your hardware. Ergo by your logic, that would be self hosting.
If it’s just about installing a program and bring able to uninstall it, that would mean that if Netflix made a program you could install, you’re now self hosting Netflix.
That’s what it was! I remember there was a reason Framework was on my no buy list. It was mostly because they double downed on it. And that they personally run it is an additional reason now that it’s come out it’s slop coded too.

Linux@programming.dev•Flatpak’s Future May Leave Non-systemd Distros Behind
1·21 days agoThat or if you’re running an immutable distro like Bazzite and there’s an app image available because it’s easier than setting up OS-tree layering etc.
Or you just want an easy way to update app images lol
Wasn’t that the one that Framework donated to? Or am I confusing it with Hyprland?

2·23 days agoIn that case definitely would recommend PikaOS. I myself run Bazzite for my main gaming machine, but when I was considering making a gaming PC server I looked into it because it’s built on Debian and that has more stability and security for a server, and it seemed really great. It’s likely only improved more since then.

I can’t believe I never heard of Flex-Launcher - it’s exactly what I’ve wanted for years. Every search for something like this would always bring up the never finished, forever worked on Plasma Bigscreen.
You should definitely do a write up on your set up. It would definitely be great for beginners to have this layout, especially on c/SelfHosting. Are you also running any containers, like Podman/Docker stuff or am Arrstack?

141·3 months agoIt’s at times like this I like to point out examples like surgeons Ben Carr(?) and Dr. Oz as counter examples that you can be very knowledgeable about something but also very unwise or morally bankrupt it simultaneously.
What’s wrong with kittygram? How’s that any weirder then say Pringles? Like what the heck is a “Pringle” anyway? A potato tingle?
Coca-cola literally has the reference to Cocaine in it. In Spanish it’s even weirder because Coca is actually the slang word for Cocaine, so it basically says “Cocaine Tail”.
And Facebook??? A face that’s a book???
There’s plenty of extremely weird words you use or see daily. You’ve just been brainwashed to see them as normal because you’ve been marketed to about them since birth essentially.
If you heard of kittygram since you were 7, and saw kittygram ads constantly growing up, you wouldn’t so much as blink about the name.
Edit: Windows has nothing to do with actual literal windows. I’ve never seen a window that looks like a freaking menu at least. iPhone is just lazy. Wow, just shortened internet phone. Not to mention Apple literally doesn’t have anything to do with Apples. At least Gnu Imagine Manipulation Program actually does what it says. Spotify? What does it have to do with making Spots? It’s about music, the heck. Don’t even know what’s up with Qobuz. Target? How does 🎯 remotely even signify shopping? Amazon I remember being confused as a kid because I thought it was going to be a website about the rainforest. That’s a terrible name.
And there’s more. Google? Like Googly eyes? I doubt hardly anyone could ever tell you what a Googleplex was when it came out. It sounds Goofy. DuckDuckGo?
Like seriously, Kittygram is a problem but 2 ducks going isn’t? Heck, what about when Google named Android versions over desserts? Jellybean, Eclair, Honeycomb??? Or Google’s Play Store? That sounds dirty when you think about it. Like imagine you saw a shop in a strip mall and they weren’t selling kid’s toys called The Play Store. Then there’s OpenAI which is closed, and for that matter how all the big AI logos look like fancy assholes. Meanwhile Europe has Mistral’s LeChat. Literally a meme name.
DeviantArt? Well okay now with the AI porn it’s living up to its name I guess.
