That’s probably fallout from the early days of this joke. After seeing this image with ‘the server crashed’, funny programmers would start saying their server “fell over” to reference that memory. Now it’s come full circle. Meanwhile those of us who are “grandma peering at the computer screen” would only say a computer has “crashed.” And wouldn’t know how to fix it beyond a couple of tries at turning it off and back on again. (Which usually does work, though!)

It’s possible that the school would allow him to drop off a phone in the front office every morning and pick it up before walking home. Depends how nice you are to the office ladies, but that’s always a good idea anyway because they’re more powerful than you can imagine. (Some school office staff may not be ladies these days but the principle still applies, and in elementary school most probably still are.)

What are you complaining about? You got a trip and the pleasure of peeling! Not to mention the smugness benefit from seeing their faces. I hope you ate some local specialty before flying home.

Ugh, I hope you’ve got a good mask and the latest flu and covid shots. Not for the sake of your boss! But for your safety and comfort. Maybe your cellmate there could come up with a reason for a half-hour one-on-one with the boss in their office. Coughing and wheezing the whole time.

Love the jokes but appreciate the reminder: don’t come to work sick. Even if that bastard tries to get you to. The people they persuaded to work sick are the reason they’re short-staffed today, and it will only get worse if you’re in there infecting others.

Sorry, hon. It’s hardwired into humans to add in code for “I am alive and not cackling mad or suicidal yet today” during “conversations.” It would probably be more effective at screening for bots than captcha, but not as good at training bots.
