I am not surprised.
The description of the app just screamed security nightmare.
It was like a man in the middle attack opt-in service.
How many times does it have to be said: The cloud is just someone else’s computer that you have no control over.
Wisdom is knowing not to put them in a fruit salad.
A Greek salad is not a fruit salad, it is a…Greek salad.
Intelligence is knowing Tomatoes are fruits.
Wisdom is knowing not to put them in a fruit salad.

We are well past the point where there is real marginal utility in an upgrade every 2 years.
I expect most people are moving to 3 and 4 year upgrade cycles.
How bad could it be?
Well, as long as it is well documented…I’m sure it will be fine. (as I am not that one that will have to maintain it)
piss off spammer.
This will just mean that those under 18 will mark their account as 18+ and we are back where we started.
And if it did work, it will allow those adults who want to groom children to easily target them.

I had a lecture on that at university.
A group of students were given a car manual and told to follow the operating instructions in a completely literal manner.
He gave several examples that were pretty funny. The only incident I remember was the instruction to “Remove Handbrake” as part of the staring the car and moving off.
Remove Handbrake…The student pulled out a screw driver and started disassembling the handbrake and removing it from the car.
And it say “Hold your finger” not “Place your finger on the screen.”
I know this is a joke but I have seen designers make these sort of mistakes.
Two perspectives:
The Designer: Make something idiot proof and the universe will create a bigger idiot.
Or
The User: Just because it makes sense to you does not mean it will to anyone else.
When has a new model iphone been smaller than the previous one? SE models are not what I am talking about.
They didn’t make the phone smaller, they made the screen larger.
But the battery cannot be replaced without huge effort and they will stop updates after two years…so it will be e-waste in 24 months anyway.
Just in time to buy the S26.
Is thin bezels a thing that anyone, outside handset reviewers, actually care about?
I am still not sure that it will help.
If they are smart enough to know to pull the sim immediately, caring a faraday bag would be my go to as a thief. Lift phone, immediately place in bag. Open while inside a shielded space. Strip phone for parts.
Job done.
If it is a data breach you are worrying about, the only real solution (and it is a terrible, incredibly limiting one) is to store nothing sensitive locally on the phone that is not encrypted.
to keep my device secure?
I assume in your case the vast majority of phone thefts are to resell the device, not to obtain any information of the device.
I wouldn’t see this as keeping it secure, It will not prevent theft. It may prevent the resale of the phone but that just means they will destroy it in short order.
If theft of data is the issue, they still have physical possession of the device…
My daily driver handset was released in 2014…
