Cool, I didn’t know you could do that
Cool, I didn’t know you could do that
Rudo’s tool sounds cool.
I’ve done those conversions by hand before, just deleting irrelevant Google junk out of the KML file to import it to OsmAnd~ because I planned my route on the desktop Google Earth app (3D is cool) and exported it to KML. After some edits it usually will import to OsmAnd on the phone
I didn’t have to pay for it, installed from F-Droid, and I can download any map I’ve tried so far. When I’m traveling I like to pre-download the standard map for the whole state if it’s one I don’t already have installed. It’s nice to not have to worry about data / reception.
Overall OsmAnd is a pretty good GPS-map-navigation app, but has several annoyances and bugs. Still better than using Google’s app to me. I need to check out Organic maps too
Streaming in general is great. Streaming services are a mixed bag of results, but overall our options are excellent at this point in time. You can have streaming services with no contract, pay for one month and abandon it if you don’t like it. There are also numerous FREE streaming services with lots of great content.
It’s important to understand the above in the context of how it used to be before Streaming was an option. There was basically only the option to have a cable or satellite TV on contract, or use OTA antenna TV, or watch everything on disc / tape. So yeah I think streaming is great.
Having said all that, I buy anything I want to keep perpetually on disc. 4k Blu-ray for movies and CDs for music (I bought 3 albums on CD over the last couple weeks). Games don’t fit on discs anymore so I try to get stuff on GOG when it works out.
Yeah because that’s his nose
I’m helping people out by letting them know that their doomerism is an ingredient in their own failure. When all you can imagine is your own failure, you will most likely achieve what you believe in.
When you open your mind to realize that the possibilities are endless, you can see solutions that you ignored out of pessimism and begin to adapt in the ways that allow you to overcome adversity. Even the smallest microcosm of any ecosystem has infinite possibilities within it. On the macro scale of human life, these possibilities are only limited by the imagination and will of the human animal. So when you assume everything is going to shit and you’ll never win, you already failed by crippling your own imagination.
Sure, just change the words in what I said and it will mean something different. Let’s change your words around too.
Nope, it’s a simple statement of contentment that points out the reality that success and contentment are achievable in modern America, written as a counterpoint to all the immature doomerism about the status quo.
I have a great life in America personally, no desire to move. That’s why I don’t.
I can do whatever I want every day, and life is very affordable for me, and I enjoy living where I live.
somebody had to be the bigger man about the situation
Yep I know a COBOL programmer and she drives a nice-ass Mercedes SUV and owns 2 houses. Making way more than I do.
It’s a nice feature. I used it a few times on old Macs with external FireWire hard drives for booting a different OS or troubleshooting.
WhatsApp can eat a crap
I won’t use it either
Nah it’s fine for those of us who don’t live our whole lives inside the smartphone world. My desktop PCs, servers, and laptops are where I keep my important files, not on a phone.
When the ubiquitous thing is enshittified, then yes.
No there is a nearly infinite amount of Internet out there that is Not Youtube, you just haven’t explored it.
I concur, because I don’t have the patience to watch people blab on about their bullshit and panhandle for Likes and all that garbage. I would much rather read some detailed but concise information about the topic I’m investing my time in.
Me who has never subscribed to a single YT channel or “liked” any YT video:
YouTube is overrated and too ubiquitous
It’s only less secure in a rare circumstance that a bootloader compromise happens by theft or advanced malware. If you’re not doing stupid stuff on your phone you probably won’t get advanced malware on it, and most thieves probably don’t even know what a bootloader is, so IMO the security is good enough.
So the practical benefits of improved privacy and removal of bloatware etc are a much more significant benefit over stock android. I won’t use a phone with stock android at all after getting used to Lineage and Graphene
Nextcloud has a Notes app too
