Intel GPUs look like a great value. And AV1 hardware acceleration is a game changer
The bot should at least pick from a pool of apps new enough to run on the latest 2 versions of Android. There’s a lot of ancient apps that haven’t been updated in ages.
Take 2 people that have not used gimp or krita. Ask them to daw a circle, and see which software they are able to do it in.
Gimp is a ux nightmare (or at least it used to be i haven’t used ot in years) I will try gimp 3 when it comes out in 2037
I bought a android tv device (NVIDIA shield) and just assumed it was open source like android, turns out it’s not and they force ads on the home screen, if you jump though a ton of hoops to roll back some updates, you can turn them off, but it will re-enable them after a while. does not feel like a device I own. Even NVIDIA cannot turn off the google ads on the NVIDIA shield. you can add other launchers but they don’t make it easy and they regularly get removed as the default launcher.
At this point I’m just considering just making a mini PC with linux https://plasma-bigscreen.org/ that will stay connected to my TV. OSMC is another option; however, it does not work well with DRMed content, so I gave up on that as well; even though it’s an awesome project. Some android TV boxes are compatible with Lineage OS so that might be another option.
What are your main dislikes of kde?
Portmaster might do something like that but i haven’t used it in a while.
Imo shared seedboxes with a large app selection that includes nextcloud are the best bang for the buck storage wise, even if you never plan to use it for seeding.
I haven’t heard of harmonoid but will for sure be trying this out! It looks great
Used thinkpads especially the older ones (t480 and older) have a ton of extra parts floating around, and you can get them cheap. I built a t480 with 8th gen i7 from parts for around $170 over a year ago, it has been a great experience. I upgraded the trackpad and keyboard and plan to upgrade the screen, cooling, and battery next.
Maybe he was gaming on Wayland or something
You can always just try endeavouros. Its pretty much arch with calmaries installer. It even uses official arch repos
