Man, Germany is hard at work. The last market I read about was also taken down by german authority.

My government makes offside backups of my phone data constantly. The problem is they do not give it back when I need them.
Hey Guys, Microsoft is cool now, they really care for Open Source now, they changed.
How do people always forget, how often they get fucked by that company in the last 20 years, that they think anything changed? They still abuse their monopoly, they still buy up the work of others and they still will then dilute it down for their bottom line and restrict it to force you to use a login to harvest data on your profile (see also Windows).
Everyone who said it’s cool that MS bought Github, because they are now Pro-Open-Source: Can we please have a round table every 2 years and talk. Because I think you guys are victims of the Stockholm syndrome and do not even notice.
Isn’t archwiki one of the most comprehended wikis for Linux distros out there? If anything, the arch-wiki (to me) has often too many answers for the same problem than the other way around.
1998 called, it wants its java applets back
Write it down for now so you do not lose the memory if it is so precious to you. Maybe it will be even better the next time coding it. I think many coders have a “loose copy” or a “code gist” of previous versions of their favorites codes around. I never created a code that I framed and hanged on my wall, but some came close. I would not publish it under your real name any time soon. At least not as long as you work in that company +1-2y. If you choose to publish it in the next 6 month under a very different name, in another account, with another repo name, because you love FOSS so much, and it looks different to the original code in format and style (and the presentation of data = frontend), then I see no problem. Just two guys having a similar idea. Not a lawyer though.
I use Manjaro and based on the downvotes I received when mentioning it around here, I can assure that you are excused and you can give me this crown.
You can use a seedbox and are fine without VPN
Ah, thats good to know. I also saw a blog post for a way to use it without the App by using a modded App APK on Android were you can extract the auth-Key… but that was way to complicated. I wish there were an open standard for digital watches to enable sync of data with the OS of choice without going through a proprietary app. I will look into the RPI Solution. Thanks.
MiBand 6
The latest 7 looks very nice. 16 days battery life, 5 days with always-on apparently… sadly if you want to pair it with your phone, you need the Xiaomi App and then (as OP asked) you get trapped in privacy Hell and send all your data (Health, Location, User Content, Financial Information, Contact Info and identifiers) to china. At least on iOS as I can read in the App-Store description. Bummer. It looks like a nice watch.
useradd
- I just wanted to give a friend my notebook for a python lecture and thought I could just add him as a new user. Apparently not by default.
Those companies are such a drag for human society because they are afraid of their bottom line. the Music Industry and Amazon also would have burned down the Library of Alexandria if they had deemed it worrisome to their profit.
Can you tell me more about Chinas GDPR equivalent? How toothless is it in a country with that much surveillance from cameras to chat surveillance? Can you give cases where people were able to use it to win in court and changing the system the state was running?
Wow. Much privacy. So fast. It took them only 15 years and they just came up with that by themself without any pressure from outside. No regulation needed! You guys, I think we all have to give FB an apology! Maybe FB really does cary for our privacy and is not as bad as we think it is!
…
Fuck FB, Fuck Zuckerberg, Fuck Meta!
Self hosted, very simpel, runs in browser (therefore accessable cross-plattform, mobile and desktop) and looks good enough.
It was my initial idea to consume news after reddit died for me. Thankfully, Lemmy files that gap <3
It is not even called twitter anymore
