I do but not an open source one. Basically just use Google’s with rcs disabled because for me the rcs messages only resulted in me getting a could not be delivered message 3 or so days later (I’m in the UK I hear it actually works elsewhere but yeah I’ve never sent one that actually delivered). I think it’s a common thing here as I’ve had to disable rcs on several relatives phones because their messages didn’t deliver at all and that’s most of the main phone networks

To be honest though I do use Signal more than Sms but it would be silly not to have it all on a phone.

Yeah this articles the first I’ve heard myself of blue light being unhealthy. I’ve always fancied some glasses that block it like gunnar glasses or something if nothing else it’s helped me justify that purchase…

And yeah to me it’s pretty set in stone blue light wakes you up.

As someone who worked nightshift for 18 years I really think it does at least help sleep wise. I blocked Blue light a few hours before I want to sleep and when waking I’d use a sad/sun light when waking up.

I don’t do it now but I’m convinced that’s one of the reasons I managed it for so long.

Basically I’m saying blue light wakes you up and helps set your body clock but avoiding blue light for a while helps you sleep. I was never aware of any claims blue light is unhealthy but I guess it makes sense as you could argue the sun itself is bad for you.

I don’t use one but if I did want an open source one I think I’d give the fossify tools a look.

Basically they forked all the Simple mobile apps when some dodgy company bought them so I’m pretty sure all the fossify forks are safe.

I use their gallery app with no issue.

I know nothing about it but I’d just use antennapod as they are obviously the ones who will fix anything first.

I use foxy droid but no clue how it compares to the other third party ones and I’m just to lazy to try another as it does the job.

Imessage is garbage, nobody cares.

I hate Android updates mostly as Google seems to want to restrict it down to Ios levels recently.

They seem determined to make it hard to use emulators and to kill off apps like tasker… My latest experience has also been soured by having a nothing phone were every update seems to introduce more issues and not even attempting any bug fixing or optimisation it’s turned what was a pretty good phone originally into a constantly rebooting pos.

Random reboots, battery life gets worse each update for no reason I can figure out using GSam Battery Monitor. The memory management is the worst of any Android phone I’ve owned despite 4 times more ram.

I’ve resorted to using an app called saver tuner to get what should be a normal battery life and that required adb permissions.

Nothing phone 1 from launch up to 1.5.6 very solid quick phone after the 2 update it went to garbage and as far as I can tell they shadow ban every single person on Reddit who brings up any issue and there’s a lot of them.

Basically everything is getting constantly worse and I’m convinced they ban anyone who has issues and I don’t think they’ve ever fixed a single issue.

So yeah I think they suck and and only care about pulling pr stunts and I’m actually kinda happy nothing chats backfired on them.

My only comment is avoid this company they introduce new issues every update and never fix a thing.

They seem more determined to pull pr stunts then actually supporting their devices and I’m pretty sure their headphones and watches are just aliexpress junk with some disguises and the prices multiplied

I dunno I know Americans are inclined into hating Huawei/Honor but I wish I had went that way again instead of buying a Nothing phone.

Probably my biggest tech regret my last Honor was amazing and this Nothing crap just randomly restarts for no damn reason. In every technical way it should be an upgrade but my old Honor was so much better.

For the record I’m British and when I buy phone I usually buy it outright on a budget. Honors a company I’d buy from Again Nothing well not so much.

Apparently worse than I originally thought from what I understand now they logged every message sent and kept all files accessible including documents, photos, videos etc.

It’s available but judging from Nothings subs on /r nobody can actually get it to work.

If I can’t side load apps like vlc, YouTube next or Stremio as examples I simply won’t buy them anymore.

I don’t think I’d buy a device with no buttons I mean it could work fine UI wise but what do you do if an app freezes.

I’ve already bought sesame and all it’s pay walls specifically because of Nova. I actually bought sesame at the first Nova integration and have found it very disappointing I’m pretty damn bitter at them actually because after promising to support various apps for shortcuts on my first review they still haven’t about 3 years later on fact they’ve took away working features to charge for them a second time.

I’m still happy enough with Nova I’ve tried various launchers but it’s still the best but mentioning search and nova together triggers me due to sesame and their outright lies and double charging.

I hav that same thought about par files I just can’t figure out how they do what they do.

I remember trying to filter out the vuvuzelas during the African world cup I mainly failed and just gave up on that whole tournament.
