But Linux is cool cuz it’s so fast and it doesn’t break.

I’m not a programmer, is the upside supposed to be that with so many more programmers able to work on the kernel, those issues will be able to be fixed by the extra programmers?

I used MPV for a while, seemed a little bare bones to me compared to VLC? Maybe that’s just because I was more familiar with VLC and know how to do most things with it already.

VLC is obviously the best media player, I can’t think of one I’ve used that comes close ever, either in ease of use(hotkeys) or functionality.

Audacity is such a simple yet comprehensively functional audio editor.

OBS is a very simple video recording software that works so well.

Yes it’s insane. I actually dual boot, and anytime the windows partition needs to update, i cannot roll my eyes hard enough.

Using Apple/Windows feels like using frustrating, old tech when Linux is right there as an alternative.

Or like using a locked phone with unremovable bloatware instead of a rooted phone.

Oh, I didn’t even think about like aggregate launchers, that’s a good point. I guess if you use a launcher then everything is still plug and play. Nice.

It’s just so much faster. I can do everything I can in windows(except plug n play gaming) but for free and it’s all faster, and every situation you’ll encounter as a noob has been meticulously detailed in some forum by an expert for another noob who ran into your problem years ago.

And at this point, you can choose any popular flavor of Ubuntu, install it in twenty minutes or less, and the gui is so intuitive you don’t have to even use the terminal if you don’t want to(although it does make you feel like a cool hacker). Just enjoy the secure, free, incredibly fast OS.

Go on YouTube, search for how to install whichever Ubuntu flavor looks cool to you and you’ll be set.
