Ah, haven’t heard of that before. Thanks for your reply, I’ll look into it :)

Thanks for your reply, I definitely have to look up the best practices for git storage / branches etc as I have no idea. Pretty keen to distance myself from Microsoft where able.

Perfect thank you. I haven’t quite got a home server up and running yet, but am trying to keep things stored locally. Will look into it, thank you

Thanks for your reply. I’ve started using tailscale so I think that could help re: remote access. An interesting thought about a shared network drive though… I’m not yet at a point where I’ve got a server running 24/7 but I will be at some point (when RAM and storage stop killing me), which I think could be a good option outside of git

Thanks for your reply . I’ve started using tail scale and rusk desktop for my remote access although I’m still fumbling through it.

Ok perfect, thank you! I’ll have to spend a bit of time learning best practice around git. Thanks for the prompt about GitHub alternatives.

Excellent, thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s user error somewhere. But trying to find / read logs etc etc or do any type of fault finding is a bit of a grind because I don’t use Linux enough to become proficient

I personally found this really easy to initially install, much easier than photo prism… however it’s died twice on me (postgres issues) first was due to an update and then incorrect permissions… I’m not sure what broke it the second time… So whilst easy to install, does still require maintenance and time to fix issues.

If you can handle the browser version, works fine on Linux with Firefox.

A worthy watch about vpns, obviously just one opinion. https://youtu.be/vQmLMGcCO3I

Ctrl C doesn’t work in the terminal because that’s how you terminate programs. You need to use Ctrl shift c, control shift v etc.
Just a random update for any late comers. Decided to use git (and self host via forgejo). Absolutely lost in git, but this video was remarkably helpful for broad concept. https://youtu.be/e9lnsKot_SQ
