It’s bad for other reasons too, like a script on a website would launch as root… And also without a password if your disk was encrypted your data is protected even if someone has physical access.
It is just generally common knowledge to not run around in God mode all day, otherwise sudo wouldn’t exist.
Weirditry. Holy shit my brain melted.
You filthy fuckin Linux casual!!!

I remember these dark times… It got a bit easier when smartphones were more prevalent.
I built an amd system with Nvidia graphics card in 2019 and it works fine. Wi-Fi Bluetooth Ethernet 144hz display etc all work fine.
The same way.
Probably not. I guess it depends what you want to do in IT. And the org. Some orgs use a lot of Linux, and Linux is a whole different ball game at the enterprise level. It’s not just knowing about Linux, but how to properly manage, secure, and patch it at scale.
It might also depend on if you have previous IT experience. If you’ve got a ton of previous experience it could help.
The Linux subsystem for windows.
Oh right, aren’t those all basically trash though? Like a few news channels and some talk shows?
I’m confused. Isn’t mythtv just TV tuner software or something? Which would still require a cable subscription? Plex and jellyfin do not operate on the same playing field. Jellyfin is also FOSS FWIW.
Shit that’s crazy, I’m ryzen 3800x with 2070 super and Elden ring runs BETTER on manjaro Linux (arch based) than windows!
I really couldn’t believe it.
Yes, I remember these days. I had a few Ubuntu CDs from back then.
Story time, I once was reinstalling windows and I could not remember which drive had all my important data on it and I was getting ready to go out. But windows xp installer was on the disk selection screen and I couldn’t remember which disk was windows and which was my data. I said fuck it I’ll figure it out later. I get home and my monitor is off. I jam enter a bunch of times to wake it up. Woops. Installed windows on my data drive.
And if you don’t, you could just boot a live USB of Linux and some installers are capable of repartitioning your drive for dual boot.
But there’s always a small amount of risk to this, but I’ve never had an issue in my 25 years of doing it.
Oh that’s cool, which extension deals with the cookie thing? I use Firefox normally.
I know 😂
