The new UI is worse. If this was what I was greeted with on day 1 I would have assumed the developers were slow in the head and stuck with Plex. It’s bad.

It was better before.

People do that because they’re selfish. That’s not a dig, it’s a truth. Pure altruism does not exist. Even when you do something good nobody sees you do and knowing you’ll get no recognition for you’re doing it because it makes you feel good. To varying degrees you can come close to true altruism as that example does but it’s unattainable. In this case the maintainer lost that feel good feedback from recognition and decided rather than fixing the error it felt better to be more selfish.

What dispute? It’s pretty clear actually. Bad maintainer throws hissy fit when caught breaking the rules for contribution. The maintainer volunteered that. There’s no dispute.

You want a hospitality or hotel TV, they aren’t exclusively sold to that market but they won’t be in a box store either.

Don’t do the digital signage TV, it’ll have an atrocious refresh rate.

Some of this nonsense reminds me of the libav douchery.

“Workstation” is a real stretch.

• The hardware in those things is underpowered to say the least.
• The way X11 is implemented there is no acceleration so that’s going to suck to use.
• The connectivity is atrocious. Maybe WiFi and Bluetooth if the package removals doesn’t wreck things and even then no guarantee you’ll be able to pair anything, and maybe one usable USB-A 2.0 port.

A fun project for sure, I’d have a blast doing something like this. But the expectation you’d have something actually useful afterward is not realistic. If you want a workstation you’re far better served by bolting a NUC-style computer to the back if the TV and using that.

This is still the internet, three years from now when you come back that and only that comment will have been deleted.
