Dead Can Dance’s Spiritchaser was the first one for me. I saw that Mobile Fidelity banner and got silly. After the first one there is hardly any reason to be precious about only having one each, I suppose.

Wish I could upvote this twice. Fantastic album and even better cat.

There’s a lot I still like on X&Y but really fell away from them after that.

No doubt this is their best achievement though. They hardly sound like the same band anymore.

Every time I play it, I wonder why I waited so long.

Yeah, it’s been one of my most sought after for a while. This release is one of the unofficial releases, and I just happened to stumble onto it still sealed in one of my favorite local record stores. So it isn’t the release that is fetching $500, but it sounds great.

Yeah it turns out I’m a sucker for designed vinyl. It feels like a unique adaptation on the album art that is just for us.

Truly there are few bands that present a better justification for the vinyl format as well. Don’t get me wrong, the writing and the artistry are all there and incredible in their own right. But their signature sound is so lush and organic, particularly in later records like Spiritchaser. It sounds like an alive thing is in the room with you when that record starts, and the sensation never leaves you.

Their music could even be said to have been a circuitous route to learning their true calling.

It’s just a bad joke about how I feel legalistic about the use of ok vs okay because it’s ludicrous to feel legalistic about such a thing so maybe the joke will cover the fact that I actually do feel that way.

Was that not obvious?

I am currently experiencing this problem and trying not to overplan my next storage solution, or I’ll be compelled to fill that space too quick and I have no restraint.

I really to value the ritual of playing records in general though. Auto-play or not.

Disappointingly, it does not.

My copy of Kendrick’s To Pimp A Butterfly has braille on it though. Pretty sure that is the only one in my collection.

Very much same and I almost bought a new one with the auto off but the guy at the audio store was a good long term salesman because he told me it would be in all other ways a downgrade that I would likely regret. so I’m just living with that for now.

Thank you, I’m still very much learning about them and this is just the second I’ve owned, but I like it a lot. It’s direct drive just in case I learn to scratch I guess.

A month later, and yeah, I can’t go more than a day or so without this making its way back into rotation. Phenomenal all around.

That’s a very kind thing to say. Fair warning though, I am a little bit all over the place.

But by the same token, I am always looking for recommendations so if you think I might like someone based on our Venn, please let me know.

And in my opinion it is his best drumming performance by a bit. So many iconic parts and such Animal from muppets vibe as he pounds the shit out of the drums.

The last time I listened to this album was definitely on CD so it’s hard to judge between the quality of the format and the quality of the mix but it sounds fantastic.

It sounds incredible.
