It’s ridiculous that Google has disabled this feature. Even if we assumr it’s in preparation for desktop mode, that’s still unacceptable. Mirroring is a perfectly valid feature in its own right and it shouldn’t be held back by Google’s “plans”.
It’s crazy that my old Android phones from a decade ago could do this and the latest pixel cannot. We have been bleeding hardware features for years.
Are you using the Unbound built into OPNsense, or something else? I ask because it’s easy to configure Unbound in OPNsense for DoT. If your ISP isn’t blocking DoT it will be just as secure.
And yes, it will be much more private. Right now if you’re using neither DoT or DoH your ISP will be able to see all your DNS requests in the clear. With either of the above it will be encrypted and they will not be able to read them.
How would you change his setup to prevent ARP attacks? More network segmentation (clients and servers on separate VLANs) or does OPNsense additional protections I should look into?

Get the N100 barebones version because you can slap an SSD and RAM in there for cheaper and have more selection. It has four 2.5Gb NICs and the internal PCIE slot for a WiFI card if you really want, though I would recommend getting a Ubiquiti AP to go along with it.
You can put OPNsense on it bare metal, or proxmox and then run your network related VMs there instead of your main server. Your choice.
No headphone jack. I really wish they’d bring that back.
I liked the Zenphone but couldn’t buy due to the poor support and missing NA bands.
I bought the N100 version of what I linked above and it’s been great so far. Obviously you have your own requirements, but IMO this is a waste of a U. The system is so compact that you’re better off putting it on a shelf with other things.
More powerful N100, smaller, cheaper, no brainer to me.
Why buy a mobo when you could get this for cheaper, in a smaller footprint, and comes with a case and PSU? Do you really need the SATA ports?
While it’s true that some space is saved, that’s just the messaging Apple wants to push. The real reason is to sell AirPods.
Apple also wanted to make non-removable batteries standard to make devices thinner. They did and it was a huge marketing success that had the tiny side effect of planned obsolescence (oopsie).
I’m not saying we can never progress, but what Apple says and what Apple does are often two completely different things. Their engineers will grind incredible hours to meet a silly goal that management gave them of making something 0.2mm thinner. They can keep a headphone jack or a sim slot if they actually wanted to. They don’t want to.
And all of those dongles work even if you keep the headphones jack. Bluetooth headphones work if you keep the headphone jack.
No one is saying don’t have USB-C on the phone, or that it doesn’t do some things well, we’re saying don’t take away our options.

You’re coming at this from the angle that the headphones are just going to be used with the phone. Why should the headphones I use for my desktop amp, digital drum set, music work, etc all change to support my phone?
I get for the vast majority of people they use headphones with their phones and that’s why this was allowed to happen, but in music the overwhelming majority of headphones use the standard jack and I can tell you there is no way in hell that is changing any time soon. People pay a lot of money for audio equipment and they’re not throwing it out to use the crappy DAC built into headphones.
Is this niche? Sure. But it’s a standard that has worked and will continue to work forever due to its simplicity. The analogue headphone jack will long outlive USB-C, mark my words.
Yup, that’s why I use Aegis with Bitwarden. I’d rather not put all my eggs in one basket.
The same reason they removed the SD card, to get you using Google Drive, and the headphone jack, to get you to buy pixel buds.
I wish there were other options but most smartphone makers have dropped out of the game, cost a fortune, or have terrible updates.
