Ah yeah I definitely misunderstood the question of the comment they were replying to. I only brought up CPanel because it’s extremely pervasive and is an example of how easy it is to host WordPress.
On the flip side, you can upload plugins to install them and the plugins can be coded to use different servers for automatic updates. In fact, the most popular platform to buy paid plugins and themes, Envato, has a plugin to facilitate updates which don’t use the WP.org repo servers.
Honestly, the plugin repo and “click to update” system is one of the biggest problems with the WP ecosystem. Since the vast majority of plugins and themes are horribly made and run by idiots, it’s very often that updates will break sites outright. That’s why I disable it for client accounts.

The LAMP/LEMP stack has been the standard for literally decades. Any typical shared web hosting by default uses the LAMP stack with CPanel management. And CPanel has the Softalicious software installer which has had a WordPress auto installer for a very long time.

Not to mention that the owner of this site, gamingonlinux, was a mod on the !linux_gaming@lemmy.ml community until they were caught abusing their moderator powers. Then they deleted their account and complained on mastodon that it’s stupid design that mod logs are public. [Screenshot]

No, it’s a code editor. It can become an IDE with the right set of plugins.
It has 512kb of flash, and Over 400kb is already taken by the base firmware. Also, you have to flash a new firmware every time you want to try a new feature.
64kb of ram, too. So you have to be extremely cautious and careful about how you code any features.
It’s just not worth it.
I have a pinetime and I basically just stopped using it. I thought it being open source would mean I could add my own features, but development for it sucks and it’s massively limited.
Their free services are extremely useful and you can’t find that anywhere else. I’ve used them for years with hundreds of domains and never paid them a single dime.
I’ve always wondered how well that actually works. Anyone go through this process?
