True, but I would factor in some kind of negative to cost/longevity from increasing number of drives. Even if 16x4 is a bit cheaper than 4x16 today, will it die faster?

A NAS in my house and backed up to a NAS at a family member’s house
I would consider fewer, larger drives

3·5 days agoJust to add, I didnt mean to put down this software at all – I’m always a fan of more self hosting. I just remember reading people using Huntarr alongside a full *arr stack and was curious how it fits.

23·6 days agoSince Sonarr et al already find/upgrade missing media, how does this fit with them? Is it finding stuff they miss? Or does this replace them?
I use Authelia and its worked perfect to put auth in front of my services, including OAuth

DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•What's your current situation with Google?English
4·1 month agoI don’t use anything Google at all anymore, with the exception of YouTube videos (via non-Google apps like PipePipe). That and my phone being a Pixel - running GrapheneOS, no GooglePlay Services running ever. If an app doesnt work without them I simply don’t use it, and just use the web browser. Email, photos, GPS, calendars etc all have viable replacement options.
It feels free and great. I never look back.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Question: Is there a Self Hosted Discord like app?English
1·1 month agoI know, it’s picky lol. I’m still considering it as the replacement for my discord groups (also checking out Element/Matrix). The average users aren’t going to be up for swapping around a lot of platforms, so I am hoping to make one big push on the platform of choice. “Revolt” would have gotten less “wtf is that, how do you even spell it?” than “Stoat”

244·1 month agoHonestly the name choice adds difficulty in getting friends to take it seriously. Why did they pick “stoat”

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Bringing playlists into lidarr - how and what tool?English
2·1 month agoNot sure how to automate the partial album part. You might have an easier time just letting lidarr snatch the full albums and then culling tracks afterwards. You can connect slskd directly in lidarr with a plugin if that helps.
Spotify list import is broken right now, so you have to wait until they get around to fixing it. It’s a big hurdle for migrating to lidarr. You can import lists from some other places like listenbrainz and last.fm, so you might be able to accomplish something through those.

Voyager@lemmy.world•[Bug] Blocking a comm in feeds jumps up the feed.English
4·1 month ago+1 for this as I encounter it regularly. I would also just prefer no refresh so I can keep my place in the feed, that would be more important than ensuring the feed immediately reflects the block.

26·1 month agoI wouldn’t say im stick of it, but it can be a lot of work. It can be frustrating at times, but also rewarding. Sometimes I have to stop working on it for a while when I get stuck.
In any case, I like it a lot better than being Google’s bitch.

Yeah sadly the drives have gotten out of control… But you can always expand the NAS over time.
