Well I basically never use SMS, so I have no idea if they work for me or not.
At the moment I’m using it to connect my two laptops and phone, mostly for notifications, file and clipboard sharing and remote trackpad.
“I do not worship what you worship, nor do you worship what I worship. I do not venerate what you venerate, nor do you venerate what I venerate.”
“You will pay dearly, you will pay everything.”
“The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on: nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line, nor all thy tears wash out a word of it.”
“Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone.”
“I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees.”

KDEConnect, probably the best (only?) to do what it does in such a magnificent way
Definitely, they can’t block everyone’s IP, but the ones you can find easily are the most used and get blocked (for now). A local instance will surely work, but then again, if you are the only user it’s not different from using NewPipe.
Libretube is the most private one, if you use it through the Piped proxy. However many public Piped instances are actively being blocked by Google at the moment and the workarounds that worked for me make LibreTube the same as using NewPipe, so I switched to the latter since I also use a VPN and I’m not too concerned about Google seeing my IP and I also use it only for music on mobile and watch stuff from desktop, from another VPN server, just to spread out my activity.

Crypt.ee maybe? EDIT: sorry, not a Notion alternative as you asked
I agree, but I must say that with the Archinstall script it’s a breeze nowadays.
I’ve been using a few more in the last years, but I decided to slim it down recently.
