They did a pretty damn good job stamping out MLB streaming since last year. There’s still sources out there but nowhere near as numerous or consistent as they were in like 2019 - early 2022

I was a projectionist years ago and it would have been very easy to cam rip films on “print build nights.” Was always a Wednesday, we’d all come in late and built the reels into full prints for our big horizontal platter projectors. We’d all then separate off and watch the movies after the theater closed to note any defects or other issues before those movies launched that week.

If a film was DTS audio (the film had a time code and that would sync with CD audio tracks), you could have even run a sound recorder to the headphone jack on the DTS tower that handles the audio for those prints.

Not for podcasts on big networks like iHeartRadio as far as I know.

I’ve been listening to Stuff You Should Know for years and since iHeart bought them out the volume and shear annoyance of their ads has gone through the roof. Used to be the actual podcast presenters themselves doing a few quick spots for Squarespace or whatever. Wasn’t jarring because it was the same voices and they didn’t do a bunch of ridiculous zany bullshit. Now every episode has multiple 5-7 ad blocks of the most banal annoying crap.

Would happily use sponsor block on that if I could. I would love a podcast app with this functionality built in.

Yeah I would also like USB C and I believe the new ones have that too. But those things are all under the threshold of what I think would justify spending ~$150 when my old model still works so well.

I’ll likely ride this one out until the battery totally eats it and I’m guessing that’ll be a few more years at least given how it’s holding up right now. It looks like by then there’ll be more options in color e-ink displays which is pretty exciting.

Yeah I have a Kindle about that old and it still holds a charge for quite a while and works as well as when I bought it. It’s really one of the better electronics purchases I’ve made. Does what its meant to well without a lot of frills and has lasted quite a while.

I’ve looked at the newer models with slight improvements but could not reasonable justify the upgrade at all.
