This is what I don’t understand either. It seems like with tpm it only protects the data from someone taking or copying the hard drive, but the bigger risk seems like what you describe
plus, using an encryption password and then automatically logging in the user prevents needing to enter two passwords while still keeping the data secure as long as the machine is off
Will it get renamed to wfce?
Baobab is good too for the more manual process of finding the largest files/folders
Idk if it fills all the same needs, but i love treestyletabs
Anybody got some tips for lying on your resume? I’m not a very good liar
If that’s all you need, sway may be perfect for you
Clicks on everything or is too scared to click on anything and never learns how to use the software
Well electron apps have caught on, but a standard like this that lets you do it directly with your browser seems like it would be better
I don’t really know the technical details, but my mental model is it’s like an electron app but your browser is what powers it, and you don’t get all the bloat an electron app brings with it
Unfortunately it doesn’t work with librewolf 😔 but i can appreciate that too. It is still frustrating though that chromium is pretty flatly winning in this regard
Sort of. Pwas can be closer to an app, sandboxed, and work offline. There are a few other benefits as far as i know, the main thing that frustrates me about it is that microsoft is dropping support for their teams for linux app and switching to a pwa
A PWA or electron?
And even for some types of image editing, terminal is way faster and easier. Some of the things i’ve done that are a simple command with imagemagick i wouldn’t even know which gui app to install, let alone how to do it
Does it even support wayland yet?
I think the solution proposed in #1113 addresses the concerns you’re talking about.
Personally I think #1113 is the best solution, but for the time being it’s just a technical limitation of the platform unfortunately.
Look around on offerup/facebook marketplace/craigslist. There are usually some pretty good deals
