I’d have to imagine those were all hosted by Sony servers. You would have to convince PSN that the emulator is a real PS3, which is probably a significant challenge on top of the fact that Sony lawyers would probably be let loose on the idea for security implications.
Even with all the right hardware and community-recommended open source software, there are still plenty of unique hostile choices made in BluRay publishing that means playing my stuff in realtime from the disc before ripping has about a 75% success rate. Many of them scramble playlists and bend the standard to make it unplayable without using their official license.
And that’s if you know where to get the legally grey key files to decrypt them in the first place.
DVDs should be possible in this day and age though.
To your first edit, having been a user since 2010, I’ve tried it both ways and sometimes just giving in to a new distribution is easier than spending a week or more combing forums and getting ghosted while your display resolution is broken.
When it comes down to it, unless you’re using Linux as a hobby, I say distro hop away until something clicks in your first few months. When you finally get your hooks into one you feel you understand, that’s when you start putting the effort into perfecting it.

It’s okay, but the size is the actual issue. You always think a handheld keyboard on a phone feels too small until you bump up to that size. Your thumbs just reach everything, but especially when you factor in the aluminum case and its weight, you’re not going to be journaling on it. It’s more for tasks with light point and click interaction with the occasional data entry. Hence why RCT is one of my go to experiences on it.
I have a Clockwork Pi uConsole and with even just one 18650 I can easily play something classic like Roller Coaster Tycoon for a couple hours. They’re not as bad as you’d imagine.
I guarantee this will cost more and be less hackable than the offerings from ClockworkPi
I already got mine. A copy of Infected Mushroom’s only vinyl release I’m aware of, Classical Mushroom. Usually goes for $150+ and found one for like $75 one time.
As a fallback, I would love a set of these with thin white and black outlines. I can imagine these working 95% of the time, but occasionally, I might need to add some extra contrast for visibility.
I had an 8.04 CD that started me on my journey. I remember the boot sound to this day and miss my GTK 2+Compiz+Emerald setup. You can sort of still get there today, but with little to no modern themes being made, it’s hard to justify.
At work, since I’m the sole IT, I’ve been putting everything into MkDocs and it’s been working out great for the team. Only complaint is that I can’t seem to figure out how to update anything without just relaunching the Docker container every time. They mention that you can live reload, but not how.

The one I use currently is EndeavorOS. I landed on it because it’s been the most reliable and consistent for me personally at running games out of the box without extra configuration.
I’m running OMV with the Docker Compose plugin and I just SSH in for everything else. I run this stack both at home and work. It’s a good middle ground for me of stability and customizability.
If you have access, the VR experience for it is something else
It’s not exact, but there’s a spiritual successor to SR2049 called Distance that’s fantastic.
Running OpenRCT2 on a Raspberry Pi is probably one of my favorite pastimes. It’s such an incredibly well-crafted game that it will run on nearly anything.
Hindsight is 20:20, but for anyone else reading this, my method for server transfers like this is to have a physical offline backup from the start of the transfer process. (obviously would need more disks if you have a big array, but at this scale you should have enough experience to handle this)
Once I have the physical backup, I set it aside, unplugged, until the entire process is done and I confirm it all went well. Then I feel safe enough to use that drive again after the first week or so goes smoothly.
You could say any arrangement of words or letters about the inner workings of Windows, and I’d probably just take your word for it at this point.
We just need another billion parameters bro. Surely if we just gave the LLMs another billion parameters it would solve the problem…
