Ce să vă zic, mă, bine ați venit? bine ați venit, rău ați nimerit. La locu’ ăsta îi zice șerpărie, de la șerpii care umblă pe-aicea. Dracu’ știe cum au ajuns…
@Procedure8295 I think it’s okay to spend your money on what you like. It depends on how much, though. You still need to eat at the end of the day. I spend it on Bandcamp and Steam in order to get both games and music. I sometimes also buy a CD or a vinyl from there as well, and list it on my account from there 😁
I also go to various physical vinyl fairs, so I get them cheaper sometimes. Check to see if you have something as well, or a store that sells 2nd hand vinyls where you live.
@ijeff will the wallpapers stay even when it fallbacks to SMS?
@utzer It currently does, afaik. That’s why I turned this off long ago, even though I found the feature quite useful. I might use it again in the future though if there will be credible signs this will no longer be the case.
For now, there are plenty of self-tracking apps if you’re into this. I personally use Transistor when I am going on hikes or various trips. It’s great if you want to have a journal of places with gpx tracks.
@ijeff who cares if it will still be using this data for advertising…
Not an icon pack but a publisher - this guy claims to add any suggestion of yours to his icon packs. So if you install any of his icon packs and find there are not enough themed icons, just submit a request and you’ll have your icon in the next update: play.google.com/store/apps/dev…
@ijeff @ZiemekZ There’s also Organic Maps which has way better colors than everyone imo.
You can use Google Photos offline, without a Google account. This usually neglects these features. So you can use it just like that
@Darken I remember I once had all my messages disappeared (because of something that I did). Luckily, WhatsApp already backed up my messages a couple of days before. So I simply uninstalled the app, then reinstalled it and selected the backup to restore. A few messages from my work group were gone forever, indeed - those sent after the backup was taken - but they weren’t an issue for me. Nothing important was sent in that time frame. With the backup I recovered pretty much more than 99% of the messages.
@agilob code is like wine. You let it out in the cold and it gets better over time by itself.
they don’t enable encryption by default?
Indeed, only secret chats use it, that’s it’s biggest drawback.
Last time I used Telegram I needed a phone number still
Yes, for registering purposes. However, you can set up your own username and give that to whoever you want instead. You can even restrict some or all people from seeing your actual number.
@ijeff Finally, they are on par with Telegram here as well.
@henfredemars I think Android is doing enough to keep my data safe. Google on the other hand…
So yea, if you really care about privacy, disable every Google service that you can (without affecting the normal functioning of your device) and use F-Droid to install all your apps. Also, use open source alternatives wherever possible.
… yet they still couldn’t make it compatible with EU legislation
@Railcar8095 no worries. Perhaps it is set as default for some reason. Maybe if you clear the defaults for the Google Files app it should work from there as well 😁
But frankly, it’s great that the app did the trick. It’s way easier than heading to settings all the time and you can add it to the home screen and have it in the app list as well. I prefer this method myself as well tbh 😁
@danhakimi there are apks as well under releases. You only need to download the right one. If you’ve downloaded anything from apkmirror then it’s just as easy.
@mfat That is cool. But this is a more native solution I see
@Railcar8095 Google Files doesn’t seem to support SAF. Android’s system file manager does it (it’s the one that opens as a file picker usually). You can access it by going to Settings>Storage then tap on Documents & Others. Or you can use this app as a shortcut to it
@mp3 Don’t you have something like a custom version of play store that only allows certain apps? Maybe you could suggest it to the IT add it there.
@Procedure8295 My parents have a pretty large collection of vinyls from the communist era, albeit most of them being under the Electrecord label. I can’t remember anything too interesting from their collection, though, and now their record player is also broken (it needs a new needle). I have a few friends that collect vinyls, though, and they got me into this hobby as well. After I bought a cheap record player, I got this disk to test it out from a store selling 2nd hand vinyls. I remember I was amazed by how well it sounded.
