not on linux yet?
I used to only use KDE but fedora made me love gnome
I got a surface pro 3 from goodwill for $99. Been running fedora on it and it runs hot the fan will get loud but honestly it’s great for reading manga with komikku or watching movies and stuff. the pro 3 works without the linux-surface kernel so that’s a plus even if it does mean it’s a little slow. gnome works great on it and it makes me wish all my laptops had a touchscreen. in tablet mode the on screen keyboard leaves a bit to be desired but I hear there’s some improvements in gnome 47 and 48 so I’m hopeful
I guess because they want it to be done correctly but there’s plenty of opinions on the correct way to do it
swear, but it is funny
honestly glad you made the thread still cause I just love questions like this to see if I can answer them and if I can’t I learn something
cool guide love stuff like this
I did not know that. That is so amazing
It is insane how smooth it is it blew my mind
I love kernel mailing list drama.
I just use debian cause it’s rock solid and most of what I set up are in containers or VM’S anyways
yeah I’m feeling that now…
Honestly how I feel right now, well kinda. I was using fedora silverblue but apps kept crashing and shit just wasn’t working out how I wanted. I was excited to try VanillaOS until I did… It was annoying. I was hoping for a system that made it so I can seamlessly use dnf, pacman, and apt in the terminal and it would figure out all the containers for me but not at all. VanillaOS was too much of a hassle to keep track of everything and was just eh. I got fed up enough so I just installed NixOS today and so far I’m loving it. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be but also I’m not doing anything to advanced yet. I plan on messing around with home-manager later. So far NixOS seems like it’s exactly what I was looking for but all this time I avoided it
Why were they banned?
after hearing VanillaOS was made by the same team as bottles I’ve had pretty high hope for it’s ease of use. I plan to install it real soon
Definitely think it’d be useful if it could be used as an offline reader like Kiwix
oooo. niri is a good one. I’ve had it installed on my fedora system for… Hell I don’t even know how long but I just haven’t been using it. I’ve really been wanting to use NixOS for a while but haven’t had the motivation/determination to sit down and learn it.
This is crazy, just make a flatpak or appimage at least instead of building for every distro.
nope
