UPDATE: The specific date thing is because every 6 months i backup my nas to LTO tape so this backup is anything that isn’t currently on tape just in case the NAS dies between backups.

I have looked into mine and it has auto character recognition.
Couldn’t you just scan your images in concert them to a pdf and run OCR on them either using Adobe reader or an online service then upload them to paperless?
Does your scanner not have a scan to pdf option?
My multiple page documents such as bank statements are just uploaded as pdfs
Most of mine are in tiff format which although larger seems to be better for text even when zoomed in

I switched from Calibre to Ubooquity.
It seems to handle all files types, with an easy setup and nice interface.
There is a default comics section that you can use for your cbr and pdf files.
