yep. I don’t think the Pixel 8’s AI capabilities are much more powerful than the 7. Most of the new features they advertised are offloaded to the servers.

I was thinking of getting a Pixel if the price dropped enough, but I just can’t live with a shitty battery no matter the price. That’s one of my dealbreakers. OP12 is potentially my next phone though.
I think the modem is the same anyway. At most they may have changed some behaviour with software but it’s still crap.
no small efficiency cores… really have to wonder what the battery life will be with this.
Then again, maybe simply running the large core at a lower speed will end up being the same efficiency as a small core? Qualcomm is also cutting down on small cores for the Gen 3…
because it costs $999.
it only does what a <$500 phone can do, the the only reason pixels can “do what no other phones do” is not capability but artificial restrictions.
surprisingly this is how people defend the new pixel 8 pro.
$999 for mid-range performance? “Well I don’t play games anyway so it’s fine”
I’d be happy with a mid-range phone too, except I want a good camera. That’s basically the only reason I’m looking at high end phones…
Also it’s such bullshit that only mid-range phones have SD cards these days.
Well the 8 looks like a terrible value. Minimal upgrades over the 7, no software benefits like pro controls, $100 price increase.
Just wait for the 7 to go on sale and get that instead.
blow it all on a gacha game and don’t even get a single character you want
the successor to a watch with below average battery life, to pair with the successor to a phone with below average battery life.
It’s like Google doesn’t even know the length of a day here.
doesn’t look like it’s getting the GN2 sensor. Which is weird because that would mean it also isn’t getting staggered HDR
wait until they hear about headphone jacks!
this is the company that invented a mouse you have to flip over to recharge…
too expensive and battery life isn’t as good. 5V is already stretching my budget. I guess I could wait and hope there’s a massive sale at some point, but I was already intending to wait for the 5V to go on sale, not buying at release.
Nah, the 5V’s camera and sd card slot are big selling points for me
I was actually seriously considering this as my next phone… Ugh
he knows what the algorithm wants
I was under the impression that Apple had bought out all of TSMC’s 3nm capacity…
it’s just a phone that has a strap included in the box…
it doesn’t even work in my region, so it’s a no go.
I like the idea of the fairphone. And it would be nice if you could upgrade individual modules, like the camera, battery, or screen. But that would probably require way higher costs in support
