Other responses have covered the “not without being logged into Google” part, so I’ll just add that if you don’t care about being logged into Google and the thing you want from a front end is Sponsor Block, then yes: YouTube in a browser with the Sponsor Block extension. On Android, the YouTube app w/ Revanced accomplishes the same thing.

Not strictly necessary, but being able to carry all my ISOs on a single USB key saves me from having to redo the whole USB Stick Writer thingy every time. Is there another tool out there that does this and makes it easy for the plebs like myself?

Interesting. Since the CEO of Telegram was arrested in France last month, I’ve read countless threads on c/privacy about which messaging app is best for privacy, and the two names that seem to come up the most are Signal and any Matrix client (e.g. Element); however, some commenters point out Signal’s phone number requirement and I forget what the other caveats are.

I don’t recall reading about Wire in any of those threads, but at a glance it seems to check all the boxes (open source, always-on encryption, etc).

Am I missing something? Any ideas why this app wouldn’t come up in such discussions?

EDIT: Hmm, I just went back and re-read a thread from last week, and Wire is actually mentioned. Maybe I’ve just always mentally skipped over it until now.

CS2 is rated Gold on Proton DB, so some players are playing on Linux, although that same page lists Steam Deck as Unsupported. I haven’t seen or heard anything to the contrary.

I haven’t dug around too much, but by searching “elite dangerous edmc linux” I found a thread about a year old about a flatpak version of EDMC.

In addition to software solutions, how’s your hardware setup?

• How far are you from your mic? And where is your fan located relative to you and your mic?
• Do you have a dynamic mic or condenser mic? I’m not an expert, but I believe condenser mics tend to pick up more ambient noise from anywhere in the room compared to dynamic mics, which tend to more directional in nature.

MangoHud is the Linux equivalent of MSI Afterburner. An optional tool called Goverlay is a GUI for configuring MangoHud. To make the overlay actually show up on screen, after you’ve installed MangoHud you need to add mangohud %command% to the game’s launch parameters in Steam. Good luck.

Which chromebooks? if you don’t mind my asking… thinking of going this route, but I’ve read not all chromebooks are created equal wrt installing Linux.

With GrapheneOS do you still get the same quality photos as you would with the stock OS?

Is there such a thing as a Windows live environment? Once in a blue moon I need to boot into Windows, like when I need to reprogram my gaming mouse or something. I’d love to not have to maintain a separate partition on my OS drive that I use like once a year.
