Wild that streaming services allow this. I don’t see it on Apple Music, but it’s happened on Apple Music (and iTunes) with other artists.
I think the weirdest one happened to Enya. A young Chinese girl was able to get her album uploaded on the Irish singer’s page. Interestingly, the child really is named Enya, and she is named after the Irish singer. Her family is into music, and named her after one of their favourite musicians.
I don’t know how streaming services handle this, but it almost seems like anybody can say the artist on their album is “Enya” (or “Korn”) and get it included in the artist’s discography. I once talked to a local band it happened to, they said they contacted Apple and there’s nothing they can do. Sounds like some bullshit.
I’ve seen it happen on Spotify; somehow, there are a bunch of rappers using the same name as old metal bands. Usually filing a bug report helps to get it fixed.
