No Banter. No Barter. No Quarter.
Bravo to you. This was absolutely the right call and I hope you let it rot if there isn’t a massive change of direction. Frankly, for me, even if they do roll things back I am still done with them. P2P is how the internet should be (funny considering torrenting has been a thing for how long now?) and thankfully we have guys like you to step up and help get this off the ground. Thanks!
Depending on the instance where the new piracy community is hosted, it could be a thousand times better than the original subreddit.
On Reddit you could openly discuss piracy, but had to be extremely careful with links and directly mentioning any specific tool or service. And yeah, using a base64 encode on a URL was often not good enough.
But host a Lemmy instance in a country that doesn’t care about digital piracy and you’re golden. In fact, if you’re not for profit in anyway (including ads) even Brazil would work, but I’m sure there are even better choices out there.
My Argentina don’t cry for Piracy, I think even the president pirates everything.
Maybe. Have to get people to use it. Reddit was easy. We need to get good mobile apps
Good mobile apps are key, I agree. My main use of reddit was on mobile. Currently using Jerboa, which seems okay except it keeps logging me out for some reason.
I wish there was a way to respond to a comment. I can see it in the inbox, but I have to click into the thread and manually find it, to respond…
Reply directly from Inbox works fine for me, both in website and in Jerboa app. What are you using to connect?
Jerboa as well, on android. I actually just figured it out, I have to long press on the comment and the option to reply will drop down. I feel like my father using this app, but I sort of love it. I’m figuring it out!
It definitely can flourish here given the right circumstances. I haven’t pirated anything in a long while, but I love seeing the community doing it’s thing. I’ll definitely be following along
Will the megathread be transfered here?
it’s already stickied
I love Reddit, But plan on using Lemmy now too. Doesn’t seem too bad.
I know, right? For me it’s a drop in replacement. All that’s required is for the people to stick around.
That’s the hard part ain’t it?
Seems quite good. Although I’m having some trouble with connecting to some instances (e.g. feddit.dk) Edit: Everything seems to work now (2023-06-17)
Glad to see Piracy made it over 🙇🏽♂️
naturally!
Im prolly gonna stick to Lemmy even if Reddit magically apologizes and gives us each a free cookie. Much better comment interface, and it’s not Reddit. :3
Always good to see this pop in here. I’m already liking Lemmy much better so far too.
Hypothetically speaking, if this instance gets taken down would it be possible for the admin to recover the data and respawn it on a new instance?
Yaarrrrr
Respect. Decentralization fits perfect with piracy anyhow.
Nice :)
But what if they… pirate, the um… piracy?
playing our game means we’ve already won :D
Honestly hoping that Reddit does nothing so we can build a better commnuity here
